Advisory Board and Stakeholder Panel Kick Off for 3D-4CH
As the 3D-4CH project enters its implementation phase, we’re excited to introduce two key groups that will guide and shape the development of our online Competence Centre for 3D technologies in Cultural Heritage: The Advisory Board (AB) and the Stakeholder Panel (SP).
Both groups held their inaugural meeting on 19 February 2025, marking an important milestone for the project. This gathering brought together scholars, sector professionals, and institutional representatives from across Europe to discuss the strategic direction of 3D-4CH, set priorities for the coming months, and lay the groundwork for ongoing collaboration. An online meeting took place on 8 July 2025, bringing together both key groups to share essential project updates and help determining important upcoming project steps.
The Advisory Board: Scientific Expertise and Strategic Guidance
The Advisory Board is made up of leading scholars, digital heritage specialists, and representatives from European Cultural Heritage Institutions (CHIs). Its role is to provide expert guidance, support rigorous methodologies, and ensure the Competence Centre remains aligned with the fast-changing technological and institutional landscape.
Key responsibilities of the AB include:
Serving as a sounding board for the project’s management and technical teams
Supporting exploration of emerging trends in 3D, AI, XR, and immersive media
Encouraging partnerships and international collaboration
Assessing the impact and relevance of the Centre’s services
Promoting inclusive and gender-balanced governance
The Advisory Board will meet annually, with additional consultations as needed, and will collaborate closely with the Stakeholder Panel to ensure the Centre meets the real-world needs of CHIs and related sectors.
The Stakeholder Panel: User-Focused Input and Sector Engagement
The Stakeholder Panel brings together representatives from cultural institutions, regional and national administrations, universities, NGOs, and SMEs across Europe — including Ukraine and neighboring countries.
Its mission is to ensure that the services and tools developed by 3D-4CH are practical, effective, and widely adopted.
The Stakeholder Panel will:
Provide feedback on the challenges and needs faced by CHIs during the digital transition
Test and evaluate the project’s services and tools
Promote the use and reuse of 3D digital assets in education, tourism, and conservation
Support the dissemination of training opportunities and resources
The Stakeholder Panel will take an active role in surveys, training design, and outreach activities, helping the Competence Centre stay closely connected to the communities it serves.
Looking Ahead
By mid-2025, both the Advisory Board and Stakeholder Panel will be fully operational, with defined roles, working groups, and a shared calendar of activities. Their contributions are essential to building a Competence Centre that is inclusive, effective, and deeply embedded in the day-to-day realities of cultural heritage practice across Europe.
We warmly thank all members for their dedication, insight, and collaboration — and look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses.
