Call for Contributions: AI for 3D Digital Twins in Cultural Heritage

2. 3. 2026

Stakeholder Forum under the ApplyAI Strategy

The European Commission (DG CONNECT) and the 3D-4CH Online Competence Centre invite European projects and initiatives, including EU-, national- or regional-funded ones, to submit short contributions for the upcoming Stakeholder Forum on AI for 3D Digital Twins in Cultural Heritage, taking place online on 23 March 2026.

The event is organised in the framework of the ApplyAI Strategy, supporting the uptake and scaling of AI technologies to create high-quality 3D digital twins of cultural sites and artefacts.

We are seeking up to 9 short presentations of 7 minutes each for showcasing and discussing relevant project results under one or more of the following suggested thematic areas:

  1. AI for scaling up 3D digitisation & enhancement
AI techniques that accelerate or improve 3D capture workflows, enhance legacy models, or scale digitisation pipelines.

  2. AI for semantic enrichment & segmentation
AI methods for automatic segmentation, metadata extraction, and semantic labelling of 3D models.

  3. AI for data visualisation, interpretation, narrative creation and reuse
AI approaches that analyse, classify, visualise or interpret cultural heritage data and scenes, supporting decision-making processes and enabling the re-use and creation of new narratives and contextual understandings.

"The AI for 3D Digital Twins in Culture Forum will be a great opportunity to advance the use of AI for 3D digitisation and reuse, while exploring and showcasing concrete examples of innovation in the field. I am certain that this Forum will contribute to the next wave of AI-driven 3D digital twins in the European cultural domain, strengthening one of the ten key industry sectors identified to boost AI adoption and supporting the uptake of EU-developed technological solutions."
