Objectives

The Online Competence Centre in 3D for Cultural Heritage aims to support the digital transformation of cultural heritage institutions (CHIs) across Europe by providing resources, training, and tools that enable the effective adoption of advanced technologies like 3D, AI, and XR. It focuses on enhancing the digital skills of professionals, creating high-quality 3D cultural heritage content, and fostering collaboration between research and practical applications.

The project’s key objectives include building an accessible online platform that offers standards, best practices, and advanced tools for digitization. It will provide certified training programs and support the creation and management of 3D content, ensuring its long-term accessibility and usability. A strong emphasis is placed on integrating cutting-edge research and developing sustainable frameworks to maintain the impact of the competence centre beyond the project’s timeline.

In addition to supporting digital transformation, 3D-4CH will align with existing European initiatives, creating synergies to promote accessibility, collaboration, and innovation in the cultural heritage sector. It also includes specialized support for Ukrainian CHIs, enabling them to preserve their cultural heritage and integrate into the broader European digital ecosystem. Overall, the project seeks to empower CHIs to leverage technology effectively while ensuring sustainability and accessibility for future generations.

Collaborative Synergies with European Cultural Heritage Initiatives

The Online Competence Centre in 3D for Cultural Heritage project synergizes with numerous existing European initiatives to foster collaboration, share resources, and build on ongoing advancements. These include:

The project also plans collaboration with upcoming initiatives such as:

Further synergies include connections with initiatives like DARIAH, EOSC (European Open Science Cloud), E-RIHS, and the Heritage Research Hub, which provide research infrastructure, training, and knowledge-sharing platforms for cultural heritage. These collaborations ensure robust integration, interoperability, and effective resource-sharing across the cultural heritage ecosystem in Europe.
